Pillar 02 - Protect & Monitor

Operational cybersecurity that continuously monitors, adapts, and improves.

Cybersecurity requires ongoing visibility, operational discipline, and continuous adaptation.

We help organisations strengthen monitoring, improve detection capability, reduce identity exposure, and build operational security maturity aligned to evolving threat activity.

Typical outputs may include

Clients typically receive operational reporting covering incidents, trends, vulnerabilities, remediation progress, governance observations, and resilience recommendations.

Common Triggers

A 24/7 SOC without building one in-house

Building an internal Security Operations Centre requires specialist people, security technology, defined processes and continuous analyst coverage.

SOC as a Service gives organisations access to an operational Security Operations Centre that works as an extension of their internal IT or security team.

Cyber Resilience’s SOC continuously monitors agreed security telemetry, investigates suspicious activity, reduces alert noise, hunts proactively for threats, and coordinates response when genuine incidents are identified.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about Security Risk Assessments & Penetration Testing

Do organisations still need internal IT or security teams if they use managed security services?

Yes. Managed security operations are designed to extend visibility, monitoring capability, and operational maturity — not replace internal operational ownership entirely.

What is the difference between monitoring and managed detection and response?

Monitoring focuses on visibility and alerting. MDR includes investigation, threat validation, escalation, and coordinated response support when suspicious activity is identified.

Can your services integrate with our existing security tools?

In most cases, yes. We work with many existing security environments and aim to strengthen operational visibility rather than force unnecessary platform replacement.

Why is identity assurance becoming more important?

Identity compromise remains one of the most common breach vectors. Weak credentials, privilege creep, dormant accounts, and poor access governance significantly increase operational risk.

How do you prioritise vulnerabilities?

Vulnerabilities are prioritised based on exploitability, operational impact, exposure level, environmental context, and business risk — not just CVSS scoring alone.

What reporting do organisations receive?

Clients typically receive operational reporting covering incidents, trends, vulnerabilities, remediation progress, governance observations, and resilience recommendations.

What is SOC as a Service?

SOC as a Service provides access to an outsourced Security Operations Centre without requiring an organisation to build and staff one internally. Cyber Resilience provides 24/7/365 monitoring, alert triage, investigation, threat detection, threat hunting, incident handling and reporting across an agreed scope.

What is the difference between SOC as a Service and MDR?

SOC as a Service provides the broader operational capability of a Security Operations Centre, including continuous monitoring, analyst triage, investigation, threat hunting, threat intelligence, escalation and reporting. Managed Detection & Response (MDR) focuses specifically on detecting, investigating and responding to threats. MDR may form part of a broader SOC as a Service engagement.

Can your SOC work with our existing IT or security team?

Yes. The SOC can operate as an extension of an existing IT or security team, with monitoring responsibilities, escalation paths, response playbooks and service levels agreed during onboarding.

Where is SOC monitoring data stored?

For Cyber Resilience's managed SOC service, the SOC platform and monitoring data are hosted within South Africa. Monitoring data is retained for three months by default, with extended retention available where required and agreed.

Need stronger visibility across your security environment?

Whether you are struggling with alert fatigue, limited monitoring visibility, identity exposure, or operational security maturity, we will help you strengthen detection capability and improve resilience over time.
